The Swiss watches brand has signed a five year deal to be the organisation's Official Timekeeper. The new partnership will probably be launched in the 2011 PGA Championship in the Atlanta Athletic Club which begins on 8 August and will run through to the PGA's Centennial year celebrations in 2016.
The new deal will encompass two of golf's best known events, the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup, alongside a number of well-liked subsidiary contests. The commitment from the watch manufacturer consists of advertising on Television broadcasts with the sport and advertising support for the PGA's Player development efforts.
As the Official Timekeeper with the PGA of America, the company will also provide timings along with other support to the Senior PGA Championship, the PGA Championship and Grand Slam of Golf, and the Official Licensee with the 2012 and 2014 Ryder Cup. The sponsor also permits the manufacturer presenting Sponsor rights at particular events and also the status of Official Timekeeper of the Professional National Championship.
As well as organising prestigious golf events, the US PGA also organises representation and accreditation for the 27,000 men and women PGA experts who function with golf clubs as golf tutors, course managers and other related roles.
OMEGA watches also supports golf outside of the United States, serving as title sponsor of the European Masters, the Mission Hills Globe Cup of Golf and the OMEGA watches Dubai Desert Classic. The roster of Brand Ambassadors includes a number of present golf stars such as Sergio Garcia and Michelle Wie and 1 of the game's all-time greats, Greg Norman.
With a rich history in sports timekeeping, OMEGA watches has served as Official Timekeeper at 24 Olympic Games because 1932. It has extended its agreement with the International Olympic Committee through to 2020.
